The Epoxy That Makes Beginners Look Like Pros
Whether you're looking to create beautiful epoxy countertops in your home or protect tables and bar counters in a commercial space, TotalBoat Table Top & Bar Top Epoxy Kit makes it easy to achieve great results every time. The formula cures to a crystal-clear, glassy finish that offers stain, yellowing, and scratch resistance to withstand wear-and-tear from daily or high-traffic use. Once fully cured, our resin provides lifetime protection on metal, wood, stone, ceramic, and concrete surfaces.
Do more with Table Top Epoxy - embed objects, color & tint, cast or coat
TotalBoat epoxy is clearly the best solution for table tops, counters, or bar toppers, but we promise you’ll love how this versatile formula can be used to coat, cast, or create across a variety of applications.
Coat: Table Top Epoxy lets you cover any compatible surface that's been properly prepared, from cornhole boards to epoxy tables. You can even coat lamps, tumblers, wine glasses, and other round surfaces. The smooth viscosity and self-leveling makes it easy to do pristine, clear layers. Wait 4-8 hours between coats to allow the formula to level and set properly before building up.
Personalize: For a personal touch, you can embed a variety of objects - bottle caps, buttons, charts, coins, crystals, photographs, shells, tile - the possibilities are endless! Pour a base layer and allow it to cure, then glue down your items (we recommend using UV cure resin or TotalBond CA glue). Add thin layers to encase the embedded objects or create a floating effect by adding in between layers. For delicate items like photos and cards, seal with a clear coat before adding to an epoxy layer.
Cast: With a max pour depth of 1/8" - 1/4", TotalBoat table top epoxy can be used with shallow molds to make original home decor, crafts, and jewelry. The same durability that protects furniture ensures that any coasters, dice, figurines, holiday ornaments, pendants, trays, and vases made can withstand daily wear-and-tear while beautifying your space. For larger molds, build up thin layers to create beautiful effects or use TotalBoat Thickset Deep Pour for up to 1/2" - 1" pours.
Create: Want to add creative flair to your epoxy resin countertops? Mix the clear formula with mica powder, alcohol inks, or pigments to create beautiful effects - artists and makers love to use TotalBoat epoxy to make galaxies, geodes, marble, ocean waves, and other effects to bring their creative vision to life. You can even create original abstract art with dirty pour and fluid painting methods. Check out our Reviews Gallery for your next project inspiration!
BPA-Free and no VOCs for safe application and limited contact with food
It’s time to skip the noxious fumes and unknown safety of other resin systems. TableTop epoxy contains low volatile organic compounds, or VOCs. This means a safer, healthier work environment when you are stirring, pouring, and spreading. And, because the hardener component is BPA-free, this epoxy resin is more suitable for limited contact with food.
Note: Epoxy should not be used on cutting boards or similar-use surfaces. Knives and other sharp objects can damage the epoxy finish, exposing the surface underneath to bacteria while damaging or dulling the blade. To protect and beautify wood cutting boards, we recommend TotalBoat Wood Honey

How do I use epoxy to create DIY countertops and table tops?
While using our epoxy is as simple as Measure, Mix, Pour, and Spread, there are some extra considerations when it comes to coating bartops, counters, and tables to ensure a beautiful, glossy finish. Check out our epoxy table guide for the beginner-friendly details you need for your next DIY creation! -
How do I know how much I need to measure? What is the typical coverage?
Use our simple epoxy calculator to help you determine how much resin you'll need for your project! Once you have your final measurement, the 1:1 mixing ratio makes it easy to measure the right amount of Part A resin with Part B hardener. Our typical coverage at 1/8” thickness: 6 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Quart Kit; 12 sq. ft. per mixed Gallon Kit; 24 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Gallon Kit. At 1/4″ thickness: 3 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Quart Kit; 6 sq. ft. per mixed Gallon Kit; 12 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Gallon Kit. -
What are the different times and stages for using table top epoxy?
Remember that all of these times are based on working between 70-80°F - adjust accordingly for your workspace temperature. The total working time will be about 20 minutes at 70°F. Gel time will be about 30 minutes at 77°F. To build up layers, the recoat time is 4 - 8 hours, where the epoxy is no longer tacky but does not need to be sanded to apply the next layer. For the full cure, wait about 3-5 days. -
How thick can I pour this epoxy resin?
For a traditional surface coating on table tops, bar counters, and countertops, you'll want to stay between 1/8″ – 1/4" to prevent excessive heat and distortion as the epoxy cures. For creating river tables or filling deeper molds, step-pour multiple 1/8″ layers until you get to the desired thickness. For best results, allow each coat to cool and cure for 4 - 8 hours, then recoat and build up. If you see bubbles in your layers after you pour, wait 10 minutes then use a heat gun or propane torch to pop away - just be careful not to overuse to prevent distortion. -
What should I use to apply it?
For the seal coat application, we recommend using a chip brush. For flood coat applications, pour the epoxy on and spread with a flexible spreader. Flood coats should be no thicker than 1/8″ each. Apply only in temperatures between 70-80°F. Warm conditions are critical for success! -
Does table top epoxy dry clear or does it have a tint? What can I use to add color to my epoxy project?
While some epoxies have an amber color after curing, Table Top epoxy cures blush-free to a clear, glassy, 100% waterproof finish with excellent scratch, stain, and yellowing resistance. For creative projects, our epoxy resin can be tinted with a variety of epoxy colorants, including mica powder, alcohol inks, and opaque liquid pigments to achieve a variety of colors and effects, including ocean waves and geodes. -
What causes sticky or tacky spots and how can I fix them?
Sticky or tacky spots are generally caused by inaccurate measuring, not mixing thoroughly, or by curing in cold temperatures. Try moving your piece to a warmer spot: if it doesn’t dry, remove epoxy and start over. -
Can this epoxy resin be used outside?
Although resistant to yellowing, this product is not recommended for continuous outdoor exposure to UV light, and finishes may slowly lose their gloss or discolor over time if left outdoors. We recommend applying a varnish with strong UV resistance over TableTop epoxy for outdoor applications. Sand cured epoxy with 320 grit before varnishing. -
Can I use table top epoxy for molds or tumblers?
Yes! While our table top epoxy resin is the best solution for traditional flat surface coating, the versatile formula can also be used in molds to create jewelry, coasters, dice, figurines, and other epoxy casting projects. You can also use on tumblers, glasses, pens, and other round objects to clear coat or create colorful effects - the creative possibilities are endless! -
Can this epoxy be used on floors?
No, it is not meant to be used on floors. -
How durable is TableTop Epoxy Resin once fully cured?
Using the Shore D hardness scale, our TableTop epoxy rates as an 82, meaning it cures to an extra-hard state to resist impact, scratches, and other damage from wear-and-tear. -
Is this epoxy heat-resistant? Can I use this in my kitchen or bathroom?
Our table top epoxy resin is designed for use in high-traffic areas in the home, such as kitchens and bathrooms. You can even use this epoxy in commercial settings like cafes, restaurants, and bars to protect your furniture while keeping them looking beatiful. Once fully cured, this BPA-free resin is 100% waterproof, safe for limited contact with food, and can withstand temperatures up to 124°F. For best results, we highly recommend using coasters and placemats before putting hot pans, plates, or cups on the surface to minimize risk for distoration. -
What is the shelf life?
At least one year, as long as it is stored properly. We recommend storing the epoxy at 60°- 90°F in a dry place. After use, tightly reseal all containers.
