Pour & Carve Challenge
Presented by Kutzall and TotalBoat
April 2026
What happens when you combine Kutzall’s precision carving tools with TotalBoat epoxy? You get the Pour & Carve Challenge! And we’re inviting makers of all skill levels to be part of it!
Whether you’ve been carving for years or you’ve never touched a carving tool in your life, this challenge was built for you. The whole point is to try something new, make something you’re proud of, and share it with a community of people who love building things with their hands.
Meet Your Guest Judge:
Blake McFarland of BM Sculptures
We are thrilled to have Blake McFarland, the artist and craftsman behind BM Sculptures, as the guest judge for this challenge.
Blake’s work sits at the intersection of raw material and refined artistry. He’s known for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with wood, resin, and carving — exactly the kind of thinking we want this challenge to inspire. He’ll be sharing tips and guidance along the way, and he’ll have the final say on who takes home the top prize!
In addition to Blake’s tips and tricks video, both brands will be covering the basics of epoxy and wood, pouring to carving, and beginner-friendly safety guidance. Follow along on both the Kutzall and TotalBoat social channels so you don’t miss it.
The Breakdown
Phase 1: Tell Us What You’d Make (Open Now through May 5)
You don’t need a finished project to enter Phase 1. All you need is an idea and a short video.
Submit a video (keep it casual — a phone video is totally fine) covering three things:
- What you would create if selected
- How you would approach the build
- Why you want to explore epoxy and wood carving
Three participants will be selected to receive a sponsored care package containing Kutzall carving tools and TotalBoat epoxy products to build their project. Winners will be announced May 7 and products will ship shortly after.
*Winners will be expected to document their build during phase two on social media.
Phase 1 entry deadline: May 5.
Phase 2: Build It and Share It (May 11 – June 4)
Phase 2 is open to everyone — not just the three sponsored creators. If you have your own Kutzall tools and TotalBoat epoxy (or want to grab some), you’re in.
Build whatever you want: a river table, a carved wall piece, a decorative panel, a functional object. The only rule is that it should incorporate both carving and epoxy in some way. Document your process, show your finished piece, and submit before the deadline.
Secondary community winners will be selected from Phase 2 entries for a Kutzall x TotalBoat gift card prize.
Phase 2 final submission deadline: June 4
Blake will announce the winners on June 10.
Note: You do not need to be a professional or have prior epoxy experience to enter. Beginners are absolutely welcome — and honestly, we love to see it.
What You Could Win
Three Phase 1 winners will each receive a sponsored care package loaded with Kutzall carving tools and TotalBoat epoxy products — everything you need to build your project.
Three Phase 2 community winners will receive a Kutzall x TotalBoat gift card.
And of course, all winning and standout projects will be featured across Kutzall and TotalBoat’s social channels in front of a combined audience of makers who care about this kind of work.
