DURABLE FOULING PROTECTION FOR INFLATABLE BOATS

TotalBoat Inflatable Boat Paint is a flexible, water-based antifouling formulated for PVC, Hypalon, and similar inflatable boat materials. Whether you're maintaining a tender, raft, dinghy, RIB, or inflatable fishing boat, this easy-to-apply coating dries to a flexible finish that moves with the substrate without sacrificing adhesion and protection. While the ablative formula gradually wears away for fresh biocide when moving through the water, this paint won't lift, peel, or crack during transport or when rolled up/deflated for storage over the winter.

EASY TO APPLY

Inflatable Boat Paint is formulated specifically to let DIY boaters achieve professional results with basic painting tools. Apply using a 3/16" foam or nap roller, chip or foam brush, or conventional spray equipment for larger boats. This paint flows smoothly for even coverage and can be thinned up to 10% with water when needed.

Most inflatable boats require only 1-2 thin coats for complete coverage. A single quart typically covers 2 coats on most standard 8'-10' inflatable boats. No primer is needed for a quality paint job - just wash and scrub inflatable materials to apply directly, or lightly sand previously applied coatings in good condition to overcoat.

FAST DRYING WITH SIMPLE CLEANUP

Inflatable Boat Paint dries quickly to minimize downtime between coats and get your boat back in the water sooner. Depending on temperature and humidity, it's ready for a second coat of paint in as little as 1.5 hours. Apply between 50–90°F with humidity below 90% for best results.

Water-based formula means fast soap and water cleanup. Brushes, rollers, and other application tools are easily cleaned after use without harsh solvents. There's no maximum dry time before launch, so you can paint on your schedule without losing antifouling effectiveness. 

Inflatable Boat Paint's ablative formula wears off continuously to reveal a whole new layer of scum and barnacle-killing biocide. And because the paint wears away, there’s nothing to scrape off next time you need to paint – just do a little light prep and scuffing, then recoat.

  • What types of boats can this antifouling paint be used on?

    Inflatable Boat bottom paint can be used below the waterline on Hypalon, PVC, rubber, fiberglass and previously painted surfaces in good conditions. This flexible bottom paint performs best in low-to-moderate fouling conditons on dinghies, tenders, and RIBs that spend extended time in the water. Won't peel, crack, or rub off during transport or when deflated and rolled up for storage.

  • Can I use Inflatable Boat Paint on aluminum or fiberglass RIBs?

    Yes, but with proper preparation. This paint can be applied to fiberglass gelcoat, such keels on RIBs. For aluminum RIB applications, we recommend either using a copper-free bottom paint like TotalBoat Krypton copper-free bottom paint or TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF aluminum bottom paint, or prime first with Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat Epoxy Primer prior to applying Inflatable Boat bottom paint.

  • Is this paint safe for all water types?

    Inflatable Boat bottom paint provides single-season protection against barnacles, slime, and algae in salt, fresh, and brackish waters. Note: This paint is specficially intended to provide antifouling protection, and does not possess any puncture resistant characteristics

  • Does it require a primer?

    No primer is needed on inflatable materials, but proper surface preparation is critical for best adhesion and durability.

  • Can I apply Inflatalbe Boat Paint over old paint?

    If the hull has been previously painted and is in good conditon, Inflatable Boat paint can be applied directly over after preparation. Sand the existing coating with 80 grit sandpaper, wipe with TotalBoat Dewaxer Surface Prep, then paint. Reference our Antifouling Compatibility Chart for what works and how to best prep before painting. Do not apply over tin, vinyl, or Teflon bottom paints.

  • How should this antifouling paint be applied?

    Prepare rubberized materials by lightly scrubbing with a bronze wool pad and Epoxy Primer Thinner 200. For fiberglass, wipe down with Dewaxer & Surface Prep solvent, sand with 80-grit, and rinse with fresh water before painting. Apply 1-2 coats of Inflatable Boat bottom paint with a 3/16" nap roller, foam and chip brushes, or airless and convention sprayers. An extra 1-2 coats are recommended over bare substrates, at the waterline, and other areas with increased wear. Thin up to 10% with water as needed.

  • How much paint do I need for my inflatable boat?

    We offer a boat bottom paint calculator to help you estimate how much bottom paint you'll need for your project. One quart typically covers an 8-10' inflatable boat with 2 coats or 125 square feet.

  • How long does Inflatable Boat paint take to dry?

    Depending on the temperature, this marine paint dries and is ready to overcoat at 1.5 hours (90ºF), 3 hours (70º), or 6 hours (50ºF).

  • How long after applying before can I launch my inflatable?

    For best results, allow the paint to cure overnight before launching. Dry time to launch is 6 hours @ 90ºF, 10 hours @ 70ºF, and 16 hours @ 50ºF. There is no max dry time to launch, as the copper biocide remains active until the boat hits the water.

  • Can I use this paint above the waterline?

    Antifouling paint is to be used below the waterline only. It is not a general purpose marine paint. does not contain UV resistance, and is an ablative finish designed to wear away with use, constantly exposing fresh biocide.

  • What can I do to maximize antifouling performance?

    We recommend that the bottom of the boat be checked regularly to make sure it is clean and that no growth is accumulating. The self-cleaning nature of this coating is most effective when the boat is used periodically.
