Back in the sculpture-turned boatbuilding shop of the Art of Boatbuilding’s Bob Emser, Bob is finishing up shaping and installing the beautiful black walnut coamings. After scarfing and routing the pieces, Bob installs them and adds coats of Lust Varnish to protect the wood and let the amazing grain of the walnut pieces shine with the deep gloss marine spar varnish provides. TotalTread paint is added to the deck to prevent slips and falls on a wet painted deck, and the boat is a few steps closer to being ready to splash. Tune in for today’s video of the week and enjoy more from Bob’s soothing, artful video style where he teaches us how to enjoy the artful enjoyment of building a wooden boat.
