Bob Emser is back in his boat shop after healing up an injury that kept him from completing his nearly christened Joel White designed Haven 12 1/2. He’s using a template to create the perfect curves for his walnut bench seats and he varnishes the walnut to a beaming gloss finish with coats of Lust Varnish. The gorgeous seats complement the walnut coaming that is also glowing in coats of Lust and is maybe no longer the show stealer of the cockpit. Using thickened High Performance Epoxy Resin, Bob built beautiful supports for the seats using laminated strips of Douglas Fir. It’s great to see Bob back in his shop making the final touches to the boat before the midwest summer days are gone. Tune in for the serene sound of Bob’s voice in today’s video of the week from the Art of Boatbuilding.
