The WoodenBoat Show with Lou Sauzedde | Rowing on the Mystic River | Part 2

Part 2 of Louis Sauzedde’s walk around the WoodenBoat Show brings you along for a row on the Mystic River. It’s Lou’s first time being on the waters off of Mystic Seaport, and his first row in years. Again, Lou finds inspiration in the many great hulls and DIY builds at the boat show as he enjoys rowing a nice little Peapod around the harbor. Lou goes over the special features that make some of the other dories he sees at the show stand out -all with consideration of the TotalBoat Sport Dory he is building that is nearing completion.

The Mayflower II restoration is on Lou’s “must see” list as well, and he gets a close-up tour of the planking going on with the historic ship. Lou talks “trunnels” and planking with the Mayflower build crew, and even sheds some light on oars and rowing with spooned oars which takes a bit of technique. Enjoy Mystic Seaport from the water with Lou in this follow up episode from our great weekend at the WoodenBoat Show. The next time you see Lou rowing, it will likely be on his own Dory and we can’t wait for that launching!
