Listen: Around the Buoy Podcast

One of our favorite customers, Carter from East Passage Boatwrights, was excited to tell us about the new podcast he has been working on. Around the Buoy is in its infancy, but it’s quickly becoming popular amongst Carter’s customers, and he has some pretty awesome boats and clients on his list.  The monthly podcast features stories from the waterfront highlighting the people, projects and yards from Rhode Island, with a focus on the amazing boating and yachting going on in and around Newport Harbor, specifically.  We think it’s a pretty awesome addition to the digital media being offered in the boating world.

The most recent podcast gives a nod to his work on the major restoration of the Sparkman & Stephens yacht, “Santana,” once owned by Humphrey Bogart. East Passage Boatwrights and another one of our customers, Joe at LMI (Loughborough Marine Interests) did extensive work on the project, and the work was recently recognized by the Classic Boat Magazine as the Restoration of the Year. It’s a big honor and one which deserves mention again here. Carter covers some of the story of the restoration and the award in this podcast.

It’s exciting to mention that a few other customers of ours are also featured in the no. 2 podcast, such as Gannon & Benjamin, Cape Cod Shipbuilding and the Oliver Hazard Perry, Rhody’s first and brand new tall ship. Podcast 1 features Terry Nathan from the International Yacht Restoration School and we expect that nearly every episode of Around the Buoy will touch one or more of our amazing customers.

So have a listen (headphones enhance the experience, for sure) and let us know what you think. We will be revisiting these podcasts again and hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

More About Your Hosts

Carter Richardson, Newport RI
Professional boatwright, former US Navy officer, Newporter, husband, dad, and business owner. Whew! Carter has a TON of knowledge and a great sense of humor. Now, if he only had bottomless pockets …

Helena (Bee) Harris, Little Compton, RI
Not a boat person. Yet.
How Helena ended up hosting a show about boats is beyond her. We hope she’ll bring a fresh, outside perspective you don’t always get when you’re wet, salty, and shivering. She does not have bottomless pockets either… she has horses.
