Nick Dana: Record Rocking TotalBoat Ambassador

TotalBoat Ambassador, Nick Dana, can proudly say his name is on the books for setting some serious yacht racing records: Namely the transatlantic monohull sailing record, the Sydney Hobart Race record and the Bermuda Race record. Just the other day Nick and the crew of Perpetual Loyal won line honors and a record finish aboard the 100-footer in the annual Sydney-Hobart Race. Last year the award went to the super maxi loaded with Newport sailors on ‘Comanche’ who finished in two days, eight hours, 58 minutes and 30 seconds. Perpetual Loyal beat that record, grabbing line honors by finishing the 628-nautical-mile race in one day, 13 hours, 31 minutes and 20 seconds.

Nick Dana was aboard Comanche for the Transat record and with this latest record tucked into his bowman’s harness, it’s safe to say he will be a busy guy in 2017. Nick has some other cool things brewing at his family shipyard back in Newport, Newport Shipyard. Nick has always loved lobster boats and is working on some cool restorations and upgrades to make lobster boating a bit sportier with speed and amenities.

Check back here to keep up with Nick and his projects and adventures. TotalBoat is excited to help Nick along the way with supplies and support and to share his awesome records and endeavors here.
